I agree with your point about not wanting to be the one running on “cutting” things. And that’s a huge problem for this country right now that has manifested at the highest Federal levels. Our trust in governments fiscal work is way too high and now both parties have abandoned fiscal constraint.
That’s why it’s so imperative local and state governments have deficit limits.
Generally speaking when a government takes out debt it’s different — It’s not really their debt and in many cases they won’t even be around when it’s repaid.
We need more restraint but it won’t come from the politicians. It needs to come from the voters but the opposite is happening.
