35% or so, plus an additional 10% who are never, ever, ever gonna vote for a Democrat no matter the choices. The best any Dem can do with that group is be sufficiently tolerable that they stay home instead of coming out to vote.
A younger Dem might do marginally better but it would be in the single digits. And you’d have to find one who successfully appeals to —or at least does not turn off—as many different segments of the Dem coalition as Joe does.
