Schmitz was an interesting character. A John Bircher whose political positions were just to the right of Atilla the Hun, he had seven children in his marriage to a woman known as the "west coast Phyllis Schlafly" and two other children resulting from an affair with another woman. One of his seven kids was the infamous Mary Kay Letourneau. Somebody should write a book!
