It’s the trumpubs who are so hyped up on rejecting it before it’s
Even baked. That’s sort of the point. Trump is railing against a political win for Biden, as he sees it, anyway. He’s not rejecting any proposal on its merits. He’s just vying for political advantage, period. And he may be miscalculating on that. Dems take most of the political flak for immigration issues - this highly publicized Trump effort to end the compromise effort while still in process might not play very well to the sliver of undecideds who decide pres elections.
Trump is a political loser, who’s never gotten a whiff of a popular majority, and has caused repub underperformance in every election since his inauguration, particularly with candidate quality. I can see this being more of the same. Yet, repubs keep following him like a lied piper leading them over a cliff.
But rather than a political advantage, I’d like to see a compromise solution. Because compromise is how democracies function, and I don’t put politics above country. The next Trumpie to legitimately make that claim will be the first.
