It definitely is a concern I share. The government is so dysfunctional
we can't even put a budget together.
But, I also agree with Boca's point, that the concern isn't a popular one--popular meaning shared widely. People are concerned about costs and their job security and health care access way more.
The economy is like a very, very large ship. We've taken a fairly long road to the point that deficits are not a popular concern; the attitude shifted with the Reagan term, and ever since the Iraq War, we've financed practically any new program with deficits. I don't see it ending. Back to the ship analogy, once the debt really becomes a present problem, it will take a long, long time to turn it around.
If I were President, I'd be praying that the consequences wouldn't hit until I leave the office for the next guy or gal to be blamed. [Post edited by Shenhoo at 01/25/2024 12:05PM]
