"In a review of 27 studies involving almost 8,000 teens and adults who had transgender surgeries, mostly in Europe, the U.S and Canada, 1% on average expressed regret. For some, regret was temporary, but a small number went on to have detransitioning or reversal surgeries, the 2021 review said."

Moreover, that study only involved "teens and adults who had transgender surgeries". But not every gender transition includes Gender-affirmation Surgery (GAS), which is MUCH more radical than the majority of gender transitions.

"Gender reassignment (confirmation) surgery is more common in transgender men (42 to 54%) than transgender women (28%). Top (chest gender confirmation) surgery is performed approximately twice as often as bottom (genital) surgery. In studies that assessed transgender men and women as an aggregate, top surgery accounts for 8 to 25% and bottom surgery accounts for 4 to 13%"

I can well imagine that there might be greater regrets for GAS even though I'm sure patients are heavily advised well in advance about it just being an approximation at best, especially bottom surgery.

Yet, "The prevalence of regret among patients undergoing transmasculine and transfemenine surgeries was less than 1% (IC less than 1% – less than 1%) and 1% (CI less than 1% – 2%), respectively."

That's still pretty damn low.
