I told you sometime ago that if my vote mattered in Alabama on Super Tuesday that I would vote for Haley, but that I didn't think it would. I'm more confident of that prediction now than I was at the time. It certainly isn't going to matter if nobody, yourself included, on the GOP side other than Romney and Christie will actually say that his actions make him unsuitable for the presidency. I guarantee you that 10 more GOP Senators thought his actions were impeachable and should have disqualified him from future office. They were just too cowardly to say so publicly. I suspect you also think Trump did something wrong between Nov 2020 and Jan 2021 that meant he shouldn't be President again, even if you don't think it rose to the level of impeachment. Weeks later, McCarthy was traipsing to Mar-a-Lago and all was forgiven. Now guys like Tom Emmer, who is squarely in the sane wing of the GOP, are lining up to endorse him.

Until GOP leaders and the remaining sane voters will actually stand up en masse and say that Trump and Trumpism are bad for the country he will continue to hold sway with the party. The solution to the Trump problem is to actually call it a problem and try to change people's minds, not to preach electability or to wait for him to die. If he loses in November and isn't rotting in prison in 2028 what's to say he won't run again and command the same majority support then? What's to say Matt Gaetz or Trump Jr. or MTG someone like them won't be his successors?
