Of course, this typical politicization of the whole thing is the problem.


It’s why we’ll never get anywhere until we, the voters, really commit to it. But it’s really just a political game. Neither party worries about fiscal discipline when they’re in control. The suddenly spendthrift repub house gave Trump every single thing he asked for without hesitation. For that reason (Trump had no opposition for 2 years, and then Covid), Biden has a very long way to go to catch Trump before his term runs out. And with interest rates where they are, he’ll succeed in making up a lot of that ground over the next 10 or 11 mths.

Tuck is 100% right - voters are all about fiscal discipline until they are asked to exercise it themselves. Once that happens, they look for another option. It ain’t a dem-repub thing. It’s a voters-rewarding-the-wrong-behavior thing.
