systems - A/C plus Nat Gas furnace. I had heat pumps most of my life, even the newer more efficient ones, but winter bills were always higher than summer. Now with a split set up, it's reversed, my summer electric bills are substantially more than winter gas plus electric.

Not a hugh difference, but in this part of VA we have a pretty moderate climate. Different ballgame if you're in a cold area and those heat strips have to kick on more frequently, and may not even do enough to keep on top of the cold. I wouldn't want to go through a midwestern or New England winter counting on heat pumps. And let's not overlook the predominant, most efficient, and most consistently ready source of electricity remains Nat Gas.

Of course, none of that touches on whether invoking the DPA to do this is in anyway appropriate.
