As it happens, there clearly was an insurrection in the summer of ‘20 - the whole CHAZ thing. There was also some violent rioting elsewhere, but that was an insurrection, against the city in that case. Kicking the cops out of a station and then holding the several block radius. Seattle handled it horribly.

The 1/6 insurrection was against the US govt, aimed at preventing final ceremonial certification of the election. Clearly, without a doubt. It violently broke into the Capitol, regardless of how the overwhelmed cops handled it, in terms of picking their moments to fight back. The majority of people simply trespassed after the storming, but the storming was real, involved assaults on cops, destruction of property everywhere, smearing walls of Congress with shit, threats to kill the VP for doing his simple constitutional duty, all geared towards preventing the final ceremonial certification of the fully affirmed state ballots. No matter how much you deny all that happened, it did in reality.

That’s an unprecedented assault on our peaceful transfer of power and was the culmination of a months long coup attempt which regurgitated every fantasy wackjob lawyers could dream up, well beyond all lawful appeals. All your denials and dismissals don’t hide the giant shit the entire affair was on the Constitution.
