Gruesome photos can be traumatizing

If my wife or son saw a photo or video of a person with his head blown off, I guarantee they’d have nightmares for a long time about it. I know this from experience with scary movies. The solution to that problem is to avoid scary movies.

But if general media started showing horror movie scenes on the front page for everyone to see, I know in my family that would cause a lot of sleepless nights for everyone. We shouldn’t need to show the country gory images to convince everyone that dead kids are bad. We don’t need to see the Newtown or Uvalde classrooms to understand that. The GOP position is ridiculous, but we shouldn’t traumatize a significant portion of the country to try and scare them straight.
