The flip side is that despite such an expensive
contract / buyout for Jimbo, football is still a net financial positive for aTm. So it’s not like you could just redirect the millions spent on football to fund needs based academic scholarships. If football goes away, so does all of the revenue which I believe is still in excess of even the crazy expenditures at a place like aTm.
That said, paying that kind of money for Jimbo Fisher seemed irresponsible even at the time he was hired. In retrospect, it was obviously way too much to spend to achieve SEC mediocrity.
