News You Can Use: Voting by mail in NC…

When absentee voting was popular with Republicans, no ID was required and only one witness signature was necessary.

Now that many people prefer to vote by mail, the NC GQP has been working to make voting more difficult.

First they required two witnesses (a burden for home bound voters). When that didn’t slow down voting they introduced voter ID - which had never been required.

So you have to include a photo copy of your ID. But if you don’t have access to a copier - I don’t- you can include your drivers license number (I did) or the last 4 digits of your social security number.

There is a religious exception, for people who have an objection to being photographed.

How the the GQP came up with this one, no one knows.

(All GQP legislative matters are in private, and when introduced for voting, no debate is allowed.)

As noted previously, the new gerrymandered maps will end voting as NO seats will be competitive. None. Three districts will be over 90 percent Democratic and eleven districts will be 60 percent GQP.

The GQP NC has shown the way to end democracy.
