Look, if you believe polling numbers, a majority of Americans don't want the progressive, socialist wing of the Democratic party's agenda-socialized medicine, student debt forgiveness, cutting off fossil fuels completely to address climate change. They also don't want the far right Republican agenda-individual gun rights unfettered by any restrictions, government meddling in the choices of women and what they do with their bodies, a growing isolationism in regards to world affairs. Most people's positions are in the middle somewhere.

Give me a politician who thinks the debt needs to be reined in, who thinks government should stay out of people's personal choices, who thinks actions to address climate change need to be incremental in nature, who thinks we need health care reform but that socialized medicine might be a bridge too far, who believes in the free market but also knows we need a sturdy social safety net-most importantly, give me a politician who is sick and tired of the zero sum game where there has to be a winner and a loser and who is willing to compromise with the other side in order to get some things done.

Centrist, pragmatist, whatever you want to call it. Methinks you already know what I mean and you're being deliberately obtuse.
