Laws requiring upfront application for refugee status before you get here, is supposed to be being enforced so that people showing up from those countries without having applied or turned away. We were certainly hearing about that after the laws went into affect. Having said that it’s no surprise to me that people are trying to get around it.

we’ve got to face the reality of the demand that’s out there south of us to come to our country. That’s not gonna go away. We can’t build a wall secure enough to keep people who are desperate from finding a way in.

I have no idea what the right answer is, certainly a higher level of legal immigration, and what we currently have. But my original post really was just reacting to a hot button, a tendency to dehumanize people that have come here and to call people illegals when in many cases, they actually aren’t.
