It’s all silly grandstanding. A continuation of the silly grandstanding

That brought about our latest debt downgrade. Yeah, they threatened default over what amount to pennies on the budget dollar to grandstand for their political fans while…doing nothing about actual spending. As they do without the silly grandstanding when a repub is in the Oval Office - they don’t even pretend to care about budget blowouts then.

Of course govt of the most prosperous democracy ever should support crisis management. Which it can easily afford. What it can’t afford are the three things pretty much off the table right now - Medicare/caid (HC more generally), social security, and defense. So this is no different from the default circus - not looking to solve anything in reality. Just looking to grandstand for dollars and votes.

Which could certainly backfire on them big time next year.
