What? The USWNT's been off since the Tokyo Olympics.

They haven't played well for 2 years. We've talked about this on the soccer board. Mix that with the fact the US is missing 5-6 of their top players along with a questionable coach and the world catching up technically or even surpassing ... the result wasn't surprising.

2022 was a terrible year for the USWNT. They lost all 3 matches on their European Tour. Since when have the women lost 3 in a row? They didn't dominate anyone in 2023 like they usually do ... and had one good win against Japan. Their other 2 wins ... both Brazil and Canada failed to make it out of the group stage.

The USWNT has 4 huge problems:

1. The tactics sucks. It's basically score on long balls and set pieces. They can't string enough passes for good shots. They rely on the athleticism.

2. The academies aren't developing the technical skills players of our younger players. This has been an ongoing issue since 2019.

3. Major injuries to 5-6 of our top players.

4. Our coaching is suspect.

We scored 1 goal in the last 3 matches. 3 goals against Vietnam is nothing to celebrate. This has nothing to do with off the field focus. They had far more off the field pressure in 2019 and went through a European gauntlet of teams in the knock out stage on European soil to win the WC. The team was questionable from an on talent and technical standpoint going into the World Cup.
