We are? You think there’s a 100% chance Trump will be convicted?

I think there’s well below a 100% chance Trump will be convicted on all counts, and there’s certainly a chance he will be fully acquitted. We haven’t even had the first prelim hearing on this.

For you to be right the prosecution will have to be on its game, completely. Conspiracies are notoriously hard to prove beyond a reasonable doubt in court. If Trump’s acquitted, the opposite of that assertion will likely be true - Trump and Trumpistan will consider all his actions around the 2020 election to have been fully vindicated, and if anything he will be emboldened.

So, we should wait to see what the whole world is going to see. The first ever indictment of a former pres for messing with our transfer of power may be necessary (I think so), but it is a solemn moment for the country. And the presumption of innocence is very strong for any defendant, so it is also an anxious moment. The outcome is very uncertain (at this point).
