Yes, I have and you are exactly on point. Mark wanted to play a Gibson


guitar and have that Billy Gibson sound.

Mark was in an electronics store in Manhattan and heard a salesman complaining about MTV playing on one of the demo TVs say - That ain't working. Mark wrote the song and showed it to Sting, Hoo told Mark - You got a huge hit there. Mark told Sting - Well then, you better do something so you can be in it. Hence Sting's contribution to Money for Nothing.

Because of the use of "faggot", the song is not played often on the radio anymore, or at least a sanitized version is played.
