That’s right. It’s a good point.

How do we draw these lines? In our country people are free to be bigoted while eating in public.

Well, to a point. If these people were sitting next to a gay couple and started accosting them, certainly nobody disputes the restaurant’s right to toss them out. But if they are simply widely known to hold offensive views but are sitting quietly minding their own business?

That’s a little less clear. Truth is, our 1A dictates that we take on some of that “paradox of tolerance” risk.
