Included in the article is an excerpt from a letter written by the cop to the judge explaining (away) his actions, as the effect, caused by stress, alcohol, and social media. Despite these mitigating circumstances, he was a former soldier and at the time a policeman. Both jobs come with the explicit understanding of protecting the country and the rule of law. In other words, he knew better than most of the dimwits there at the Capitol that day that what they were doing was wrong and unlawful in many ways. He ruined his life based on a lie told over and over again by a president.
