Some of the reasons why a 6-week cut-off for abortions is awful:

1. Many women don't even know they're pregnant at 6 weeks.

2. Even if the woman realizes she's pregnant at say 5 weeks, that's not enough time to make a decision on whether or not to keep the baby and get an appointment and have the abortion (if she can even get off work, get transportation to the clinic, etc.) - so the 6-week cutoff ends up effectively banning a massive amount of abortions.

3. A woman could have a miscarriage but her doctor wouldn't be able to perform a D&C.

4. A pregnant minor (who by definition has been raped since below the age of consent), including elementary-aged rape & incest victims, wouldn't be able to get an abortion after 6 weeks, and the odds of someone that young knowing they're pregnant and being able to report it and get help within 6 weeks are so small that it would likely mean in most cases a young rape victim would not be able to get an abortion.

All of those and more are valid reasons to oppose a 6-week cut-off for abortion. Just because the last example is especially atrocious doesn't make it any less valid of a reason to oppose a 6-week abortion ban.

Of course people telling this story are arguing for something longer than 6 weeks, because the story is a good example of how ridiculous that short of a cut-off is.

That alone is enough. But *on top of that*, the specific Ohio law is even worse, because in addition to harming all women with such a short window, it hurts victims of crimes *even more* by not allowing for exceptions for them. So this particular example of a 10 or 11 year old rape victim covers both (a) one reason among many why 6 weeks itself is bad, AND (b) why Ohio's law is even worse by not granting exceptions for rape and incest.
