You think this message board is representative of the g-pop?...

I've got news for you -- it's not. Folks on this board are highly engaged politically and aware of much that the average voter is not.

Aside from that, it's not just a matter of "knowing about it". It's understanding it. The problem here wasn't just the censorship of the story. The problem was also the false framing of it as yet another Russia disinformation campaign. Even the lefties on this board who'd "heard about" the story 1) didn't bother to look into the details because 2) they were fishhooked into believing it was a Russian disinformation campaign.
