I would have supported arming them prior to the invasion as well, though some here would have said that would provoke the Russians and give them more air cover for the invasion they were planning.

I did not say we should focus on reclaiming Crimea - only that appeasement did not work in the past and therefore should not be repeated. As for what terms should be negotiated, in my opinion that is completely up to the government of Ukraine -- they are the ones doing the fighting. We should support them until they no longer wish to fight (whether the end game involves giving up territory or not).

The west has a stake in this because it involves unacceptable aggression by a world power, attempted regime change in a democracy, and huge impacts on the welfare of millions of people. Not to mention that in worst case scenarios, effects could spill over into other parts of Europe. However, only the Ukrainians should be the ones to decide which terms are acceptable in a peace agreement, should that materialize.
