I'm hoping we can be thoughtful enough about where (and where not) to "fight" the Russians. The sanctions and the tightening of the economic screws will be very interesting to watch. The quality of life for the average Russian is about to get a lot worse. Governments are seizing vehicles from oligarchs. Hell, one of them is selling the Chelsea Football club over this.

Putin may want to ratchet thing up on certain areas and force confrontations, but I think the proxy "wars" can and will be just as damaging. But they require patience (+ humility and thick skin). The question is whether he cares about his own people or not (or listens to oligarchs and advisors for that matter). But it will also start getting harder for him to bankroll some of these activities as well - probably sooner than we may have thought. But a lot of innocent people are likely to suffer in the meantime.
