Probably the most locked down police state in the world, so that is not an analogous situation. Kim is insulated from the impact of sanctions personally, and from the effects of a disgruntled public, much more than Putin.

So, I don’t know that you are wrong, but sanctions have the potential to do Putin much more political harm than they can to Kim.

Direct NATO involvement would not cause Putin to be deposed or assassinated, I think. It would more likely cause the Russian public to rally around him. I also think economic pressure rather than direct military conflict provides the best chance that the cabal of oligarchs will turn on Putin, which has already happened to an extent.
