I think there are miles of road still in front of us, and it’s not like allied responses against Russia are now done and dusted.

For months the cry against all this was “Germany won’t end Nord Stream 2!” Now, it would appear that they have, which is no small decision for them (although at least winter is almost over).

The world has not yet implemented every possible sanction. But in many ways, it has implemented more than many predicted it would by this point - especially the gas pipeline.

It goes to show how divided we are. Not even 48 hours into the invasion and you think we can conclude that the “world has chosen appeasement”? This is not appeasement.

I understand how something like a pandemic is not a “uniting crisis”. It wasn’t in 1918 either. But things like this normally are. We normally give our leaders the benefit of the doubt for, your know, at least a week.

Holding a global alliance together against such an important supplier of natural resources, especially energy resources, at a time when inflation and supply chain snarls are already facts on the ground, is no easy balancing act.
