The entire post Covid recession recovery has been weird, in that it has been almost constantly accompanied by uncertainty, which is not generally a feature of economic recoveries. We're past the worst and we have vaccines to stop the spread; then suddenly we aren't past the worst anymore and vaccines actually don't really stop the spread. The pandemic alone makes this recovery different from any other, and everything associated with the pandemic feeds pessimism.

Beyond that, all we hear about is conflict abroad, dust ups with allies, a government that almost can't have coherent policies because of how polarized it is, two parties that agree our democracy is in peril, but each thinks the other is the peril, and on and on. What is there to feel good about?

As gleeful as you see some Trumpies over this (which would be true of many anti-Trumpies if Trump were in power), the actual circumstances leading to all this have almost nothing to do with Biden Admin policies. But I will add that if Reagan or Obama were handling messaging from the WH, I bet sentiment would be at least marginally better. I don't think that of Trump (his chaotic, divisive messaging during Covid was his political demise for now at least), and it was never Biden's strength either, even when he was at his best. Which he isn't now.
