The Cuba embargo is stupid and that’s what the statement was condemning.

You (or someone who’s duped you) are trying to twist the statement into something it isn’t. It had nothing to do with providing cover for the Cuban regime. In fact that’s patently absurd. You should probably read it a few more times and you might understand, that is if you actually want to. And before you start in about the embargo being important to prevent the Cuban government from profiting from US trade, first tell me why that’s not the case with China or Vietnam.
