I like the NFL. It's a business and there's no need to hide the fact that

it is. I remember reading a book about Chuck Knox years ago where he talked about that. Knox was an assistant at Wake Forest and Kentucky for a while as I recall. He didn't like the hoops he had to jump through for college ball, saying that even then the student part of student-athlete was not the emphasis. In the NFL, he could focus on coaching football. If you read The Junction Boys, it goes into some detail about the cutthroat recruiting in the old SWC, with Texas A&M even going so far as to drop hay bales stuffed with cash onto farm fields where a prized recruit lived.

There's a reason the Ivy League formed to begin with and a reason there was a Gooch report. And for the record, I don't have a problem with the players in college getting some cash. It's a multi-billion dollar business with millionaire coaches. Why shouldn't they?
