Personally I think it involves less of a federal role. Let's face it, the
education department was set up to appease the teachers union. I generally like unions, but I don't think that one gets us the best results. I also think more local control will result in better educational outcomes. I don't have too many specifics, that's what we have legislation for. But I will say this; I think poor educational outcomes are related to poor living wages, to lack of healthcare, to the war on drugs and militarized policing and the criminal justice system. None of them exist in a vacuum. I think you have to address things systemically rather than play whack-a-mole.
