The jobs report on Friday with all the related concerns about a slowing economy was the final shot across the bow that made Trump back off. Who really cares if Trump and his fan base want to claim a great strategic victory over the evil Mexicans - it's a given that he'd need that for a face saving way to step back from the cliff, so personally, I'm glad he got it.

Trump is a clown when it comes to many things - his use of tariffs as a hammer, and his simplistic beliefs in how they work, and how easy they are to "win" - just one example of his disregard for the importance of the world's interconnectivity. There's only one way to beat this idiocy back - vote the clown out. That's all that matters, and if Trump declaring a great victory now gives us a better chance of doing that before he does more harm to trade than he already has? That's a good thing.
