Yeah, I guess my point was in a day and age when confederate statues and

monuments are being removed to avoid offending people, supporting the confederacy seems to be more politically "incorrect" than "correct".

I suspect the politician was trying to make a point (however stupid that point may be for someone from Maine) rather than trying to avoid offending confederates (are there any confederates left to be offended by this?)
