It's all about getting challenges to Roe to the Supreme Court.


I've heard that some in Alabama claim that they were going for the most outrageous law they could to force the Supreme Court to decide about Roe in one decision, instead of pecking away at it incrementally, which seems to be the goal of some of the other state laws passed recently. And some say they would even revisit it once Roe were overturned, and repair some of the more outrageous provisions.

I don't know if "trap" is the right word, but we are in the midst of a concerted multi-state effort to either chip away at Roe or get it overturned altogether.
