All this shows is that in 2017, the the political values of 97% of Democrats and Democrat-leaning Independents were more liberal than the median for Republicans, AND that 95% of Republicans and Republican-leaning Independents were more conservative than the median for Democrats, whereas 13 years before, it was 68% and 70%, respectively, and 23 years before it was 70% and 64%, respectively. The article from 2014, shows that it was 94% and 92%, respectively, when the Republican median "lurched" right during the Obama administration.
