You've got to look at what your tax liability would've been under the prior

rates with your current taxable income. That's all that matters. Your change in amount due 4/15, your take home changes, etc are irrelevant. Boca did a rather extensive sensitivity analysis on this (as did Sith I'm sure since it's his job). It took very rare scenarios in high SALT states for high earners in order to be worse off. I don't do it for a living, but all 5 returns I did for family members resulted in very substantial reductions (all actual middle class folks) If you fall in that grouping, well I have no doubt you also fall in the "pay your fair share" category and/or had a very rare scenario compared to last year's.

With that said, I don't disagree that the personal side of cuts was irresponsible when they not only didn't cut spending by an equivalent amount, but actually increased spending!
