If you thought Brett Kavanaugh got people going this year
it would be fascinating to see what would happen if MM changed the rules again (i.e., changed his own rule) to appoint another young, conservative justice in the event a sitting justice passes or retires early that year.
I think people would go absolutely crazy- and they should. it's not a partisan issue for me, its just that I see a lot going on these days that I think flies in the face of our core democratic values. From MM's refusal to hold a vote on Garland to the ridiculous amount of gerrymandering (both sides) to the walking back of campaign finance reform and failure to challenge special interest groups to cases of voter fraud / suppression in the last election. I think most of it is being perpetrated by the Republicans today, but certainly the Democrats have contributed their share over the years as well.
Couple those issues with the structure we have in place (where popular vote winners lose the electoral college, where 600k citizens of Wyoming have as much say as 40m from CA in the Senate), I think we'd have the most lively election year ever. And I'm not sure it would be great for Mitch's party. How much subverting of popular interests can / will people take? [Post edited by Capital City Hoo at 12/21/2018 2:05PM]
