I'm not defending the purism of Trump voters at all.


It's ugly out there. I do defend the inclination to vote anti-establishment however. And object to the notion they are idiots voting against their interests. The establishment has failed and failed and failed them (us) again. David Brooks and his ilk created the conditions for Trump. This is middlebrow pseudo-intellectual bublism punditry at it's finest. Not worthy of respect at all imo.

There is something going on here that's worth coming to grips with. Explain Trump, Sanders (who also wins), Brexit or the state of European politics in the absence of the record of the current status quo over the last 20-30 years. People are rightfully pissed.

Yes. Trump's a fluke that wouldn't have happened if things didn't break just right. But the fact he was in position to take advantage of it tells us something.
