Why the disdain for comedians?

In order to set up a political joke, it has to be based on facts. They also like to point holes in people's positions using their own words against them. See #7 in John Oliver's list. It was a clip of Trump bragging about how the wall was going to stop people. He was asking a rhetorical question 'How are they going to get down from this great wall?' And then he answered his own question, a rope.

Pointing out the absurdity of a political position using a person's own words against him is bad somehow? Is it better that a majority of people now get their news from facebook?

The point of political comedy is to call people on their BS. Stewart, Oliver, Bee, etc. are great at that. Educating people and entertaining people don't have to be two separate things. As long as conversations are based on facts, who cares where they originate?
