I don't see where someone like Bannon deserves a fair shake. He is an
awful person and people have a right to be alarmed at him getting a prominent position. Imagine the reaction if President Obama had made Rev. Wright his Chief of Staff and multiply it by 10 -- that's what Bannon's appointment means to a lot of people.
There is no amount of lipstick that can be put on that pig to change the fact that he's a professional hate peddler and fear monger. No one should be "OK" or "move on" from that. In fact, part of "the left's" problem is that they roll over way too easily. The Republicans don't -- if there is any doubt look what they have done with the debt ceiling, Obamacare, and the Supreme Court -- and that's how they're in power despite having a major numbers disadvantage and being on the wrong side of history on just about everything.
The last thing the Dems should do now is some touchy feely "reach across the aisle" bullcrap. They need more ruthless fighters and fewer wonks and wimps. It just isn't that kind of environment - when your opponent brings a machine gun to a knife fight and you keep bringing a knife it's probably time to revisit your strategy and leadership (one of the many reasons I'm encouraged by Pelosi's coming ouster).
Yeah, I know that isn't going to resonate with much of the board and it's not what I'd say if I were running for office but it's the absolute truth. You can't make friends with these guys, you just have to beat them. Until they change, that is ,and they wont until they're out of power.
