I respectfully disagree with your premise, and your summary dismissal of
of the significance of the article. I think this speaks to the heart of this election. Trump is a sleazy billionaire ( maybe) who inherited a fortune from his father and devoted his entire life to getting richer off the people he employed and/or fleeced. His candidacy is a publicity stunt that got out of hand and nothing more. Hillary Clinton is a former First Lady, senator and Secretary of State. She's done good many good things for this country ( which no doubt gained her fame, some money, and significant influence) and some probably not good. If you believe she is responsible for the death of an ambassador and is treating classified documents unsafely as to endanger American lives, don't vote.
This insane false equivalence perpetuated by people who stand for nothing is distressing to me. We have two very different candidates running for president. This whole, "throw all the bums out" argument is nothing but fatuous. Look at the incumbency rates in this country the last 25 or so years. The Eric Cantors of the world are few indeed.
Politics is by nature a subversive endeavor.
Someone smarter than me said that. Things will get ugly, no doubt, any student of history knows that. Some of the bums should be thrown out, and some shouldn't probably, for many different reasons. But politicians are people also, and people are VERY DIFFERENT. I know what person I won't be voting for.
