Tribalism is the problem, and religions are tribes. It just happens

that Islam is prevalent in a region which was dominated by foreign powers for a long time, and that transitioned into local despots thereafter. If roles had been reversed, and this was a Muslim nation and the ME was predominantly Christian, you would have Sean Hannity, the fundamentalist American Muslim, complaining about those damn Christian terrorists.
