I am all in favor of deregulating nuclear power and using modern technologies to make it as safe and economical as possible. The problem is that fossil fuels are still cheaper sources of energy than nuclear and other green energy sources in the current economy. The point of a carbon tax is to raise the price of coal, oil and gas energy to make them more equal with greener alternatives. I would have absolutely no problem with a cut in other taxes to offset the net income to the government from a carbon tax. Or if you wanted to keep spending flat and operate at less of a deficit I'd be alright with that too.
