Because the Clintons have a very strong hold on them.


The Clintons have a ton of control over Dem money and powerful backers, more than any other individuals out there, and the super delegates want and need the Clinton's support.

It is the same reason you didn't see any of the other potentially strong Democratic options running in the primary. No Warner, Biden, Cuomo etc who might have otherwise run. Sanders was never any real threat and they needed someone as a foil for the primary.
