In a word, no. That would be unprecedented in American history. However, I


would not be surprised to see some party reformation, perhaps a strong third party for a time. But I can't imagine a scenario that you suggest or why anyone would think that would be a good idea. Parties members don't agree on everything; they come together under some common themes and generally when a third party movement gets too strong, one of them absorbs that party's ideas.

If we had a Parliament, what you suggest would be more likely.
