Nobody is going to run as an "independent"

It's too late to get on the ballot in crucial states.

But it will be a 4-5 party race, as always. (GOP, Dem, Green, Libertarian, Constitution)

The GOP conservative braintrust is considering hijacking one of the existing parties (Libertarian or Constitution), which will give them ballot access. Constitution Party isn't on the ballot in all 50 states but Libertarian Party is. But I can't see any way they could take over the Libertarian Party to run a non-libertarian.
