You're right, both sides should be focusing on policy, positions, behavior, etc. Whether you believe me or not, I frankly don't give a hoot about the color of his skin, nor does it even enter my mind. I would happily take him over an old white Socialist from VT. Or a pompous dishonest Christian douche white Senator from Texas. I didn't bring up the race aspect, because frankly I think his pitting classes against each other and his Dem vs. GOP mentality was much more divisive than anything he did wrt to race. The most I ever thought about the racial divide was that I think he missed a golden opportunity to close that divide, and if anything he made it worse, simply by focusing on race being a factor. So yeah, I find it rather offensive and intellectually lazy when people try to defend his poor performance on the basis of racism.
