at the Kennedy Center. They were supernumeraries, that is part of a background group, and I can't recall whether they sang with the rest.

But that has to be an absolutely unique event in American history, and I doubt if anything like it will ever be repeated. It was a serious, formal performance of Ariadne auf Naxos by the Washington Opera, and two sitting justices of the Supreme Court were onstage as part of It. It's well known both loved opera and went to many together.

But that event was really something else.
