Be a threat to Israel
Yes, Hamas has choices. It could surrender. They could try to run away. I suspect at least the leadership knows either of those choices result in their death. Or they could continue to hide behind the citizens they were supposed to lead and protect, and provoke Israel into killing, even more of the innocence and destroying even more of civilization on Gazza until… The world, including the US, eventually turn on Israel, disgusted by the bloodbath? That seems to be the only possible endgame that they’re choosing at this point.
So the question is, is it worth it to play their game? Is there any amount of incremental accountability and revenge Israel, or really even security can exact from this that is worth the cost?
