I mean in order to get a conviction, the prosecution must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Citizen Trump committed misdemeanors in paying off a prostitute to gain her silence and paying a national tabloid to purchase with intent to kill damaging stories just ahead of his first Presidential election, which, according to NY law, elevates the charges to felonies.

The trial to this point has established the underlying actions from direct sources and documents. Ahead, prosecution will try to prove the election interference piece.

Nothing that has happened to this point has destroyed the prosecution’s case. Quite the opposite. The case will largely be proven before Michael Cohen testifies. How well he does on cross will likely determine the outcome. Knowing that Cohen is an (charitably) imperfect witness, the prosecution has and is working to develop an undeniable fact trail using documents and human verification. Plus, they are preemptively dealing with Cohen’s witness weaknesses.

If they are successful and if they have a clean jury, they will prevail.
